Honestly, I started this thread just to say -WOW do I dislike Rex. Seriously. But I rather enjoy disliking Rex. It makes the show more complicated that some people are trying to do the right thing in a completely schmuck-y way. It also means the characters can't easily be divided into black and white hats (although some people, like Oswald, are WAY into black hat territory) which is also very intriguing.
And Jack has the best ex-boyfriend stories ;-)

I love Mekhi Phifer's character, he really makes the show for me.

Hmm. This episode was just silly. Especially the "synthesize the antidote by dumping a bunch of goop in a coffee-pot" bit. Especially as they lifted most of the setup from Apollo 13.
Oh, and especially the camp-steward-isn't-gay OH WAIT MAYBE HE IS A LITTLE BIT GAY bit. That was a whole lot of belaboring to get to a small joke.
It seems to be struggling to find its feet; in a way that Children Of Earth (which hit the ground running immediately and never stopped moving) didn't.

Lauren Ambrose was cool though. At the moment I'm finding the "what does it mean for society if people don't die" threads a lot more interesting than "what are Torchwood and/or the CIA going to do about it".
(Oh, and BONUS WAYNE KNIGHT. Hello, Newman.)

I'm with you on the plane chelation therapy , which struck me as a bit Macgyver-y and the "gay" steward (why didn't jack try to hit on him, like everyone else he ever met?)
I also think there should be a bit more philosophical exploration of immortality angle. Years ago, when I was teaching freshmen comp. I got into a discussion with my students about the necessity of death-that if everyone alive now was to live forever it would drain resources, stifle innovation, and, most important, make birth unnec. It was eye opening for them because they immediately jumped -everyone lives forever hooray and not so much the oh....there are consequences to that. Seeing people and society at large begin to process that would be fascinating (more fascinating than "slightly gay" steward jokes).
