Hi guys! Here's some place where we can talk about TV so we can stop posting thin excuses to chat about Doctor Who on metafilter! There's even a spoiler tag (it's the gaspy face).
I kind of only vaguely know what I'm doing with proboards, so if anyone would like to be a co-mod, please get in touch. I'm also happy to hear any suggestions you might have.

This looks like it might be a good place to introduce ourselves! So I'm going to do that! I'm Phoebe, PhoBWanKenobi here and on metafilter. It rhymes with "Obi Wan Kenobi" and is not pronounced like the soup. I write scifi for teenagers (website here: www.phoebenorth.com) and am moving to New York state in like a week and a half. I have not packed a damned thing. I love television. Unabashedly. Mostly I'm a sci-fi fan (Star Trek, Fringe, The X-files, Doctor Who) but I also like good drama (Six Feet Under, Californication) and cheesy soap operas aimed at teenagers. LOST broke my heart. I will never forgive JJ Abrams. These days, I generally try just not to talk about it. It's too upsetting, and real life flame wars are never fun.

I'm Jesse aka jtron pretty much everywhere on the web (though the nickname started IRL).
I do video and designy things, and marketing and production work for indie pro wrestling shows, and have been DJing and VJing out a bit. I have time to do these things as I left my last proper job in Fall '09.
I have a strange relationship with television. For many years I was one of those "don't have a TV" people, yet my interests and job skills are such that I should probably be working in TV in some fashion. Despite living in Chicago most of my favorite shows are British: QI, Mitchell & Webb, Green Wing, anything written by Graham Linehan or Charlie Brooker or Armando Iannucci. I have a special soft spot for the old Smallfilms kids shows and will probably make a post about them soon.
And of course I love the wrestling, while acknowledging that 99% of the stuff on TV is total garbage. Love to find other people who wanted to severely beanplate it, though.
My first crush, at age 4, was the girl from "Battle of the Planets."

OH GOD SMILEY GIFS
I am cortex. I read books slowly, watch most shows years after they air, and do not work here.

Themed emoticons are clearly the way. Especially if they're JPGs clipped directly from a TV show and so indistinct as to be essentially useless as smilies.

Hi everybody, it's maqsarian. I like Doctor Who. Like, a lot. Also, comics. I dislike smiley gifs, but I'm sure I'll manage.

::waves hello::
I'm Harriet Vane over on MeFi too. I have come to my own explanation of the events of the final episode of Lost which I find preferable to Cuse/Lindelof's. I find the final episode of Big Love incredibly creepy and after reading interviews with the showrunners I wonder if I was watching the same show they were writing. I still pine for Firefly, as Castle isn't really an adequate substitute.
I had a childhood crush on almost all the TOS Star Trek characters over the two years it aired before my bedtime, but my first major fandom experience was with The X-Files. I'm currently obsessing over Game of Thrones and Doctor Who, enjoying How I Met Your Mother, and tolerating my husband's Breaking Bad addiction because really, it's a quality show even if it's not my cup of tea.
My personal canon does not include the last two seasons of Buffy, the final Cordelia plot in Angel, and the last season of Veronica Mars. I still feel sad that Heroes got cancelled after it's first season, it was a promising beginning.
My favourite genres are sci-fi/fantasy and crime; I have been too badly burned by terrible comedies to watch them without a solid recommendation first.

. . . I really want to ask you about your haterade of the Big Love finale. I have an absolute fascination with strange religious groups (to the point where I considered making a "Sister Wives" board). Because of that, I put in a good effort to watch the first three seasons or so of Big Love. But I hated all the compound stuff and eventually my interest fizzled out around the casino season. But I watched the last ten minutes. It seemed, in some ways, a fitting end to me. Especially with Margie's growth But since I wasn't watching it context, I could be completely wrong.

I'm griphus!
Currently I'm watching Game of Thrones and am eagerly awaiting Boardwalk Empire's new season in the fall (and as of tomorrow, Game of Thrones new season in the COME THE FUCK ON ALREADY I WANT IT NOW.) Also, my girlfriend finally got me to sit down and watch Buffy (there was a compromise and we skipped the first season) and now I eagerly await watching it. I'm at the second-to-last episode of Season 5 right now, IIRC. Also I really dig on Man v. Food, Futurama, Family Guy and the Daily Show.
I'm a pretty huge Newsradio and Arrested Development geek, having seen both runs many, many times. Except for that fifth season of Newsradio which can we all please pretend doesn't exist. I watched the entirety of the Sopranos in about a month and enjoyed it but remember fuck-all. Same thing with Criminal Intent, although that was my personal equivalent of turning the radio on for the dog so it doesn't get lonely when you're out (yay underemployment.)
Uh, I guess I should mention that I don't dig on anything with rape/sexual assault in it.
...also I went through about three seasons of the new Doctor Who and sort of got bored with it after Rose left and will probably come back to it some point in time.
Okay, that's a better way to end things.

So I'm Alyson! I post as alysonwheel everywhere else on the net (it's like catherine wheel but for alysons; yes, I know; I really know; it sucks) but I'm still army of kittens on mefi because that was my first internet name and mefi was my first internet, so I'm army of kittens here, too.
I love sci-fi, animated stuff, and anything else that's either endlessly creative or plain sexy. I'm a semi-absolutist about spoilers and about writing to showrunners when they do a trans episode and suck at it. Because they always do. And they always do.
I'm meh on fantasy unless it diverges from the "ten straight white guys and an elf" format. I play an awful lot of videogames but recently got bored enough with World of Warcraft that I suspect I'll never go back.

I'm Rowan, aka emmtee aka terpsichoria, the former being the ten-year-old (!) account I forgot the password to and the latter being the account I made when I realised I'd forgotten the password. But time is having an inverse effect on my memory, apparently (when I'm old I will remember EVERYTHING) and now I have my original account back.
I'm a comic artist and writer, I guess, as well as a drag queen and somebody who has spent like a week composing a song about the Human Centipede. Maybe coming soon to Mefi Music.
Without really intending to I've ended up mostly being a fan of animated TV shows - my favourite things in the world of television are Adventure Time and the Venture Bros, although I'm partial to some Fringe, Who and QI/Buzzcocks-style comedy quiz things too.
I read comics but almost all my interest in non-Grant Morrison DC and non-Ellis Marvel has been sapped by editorial meddling by now. Along with my partner in songwriting about wrong horror, armyofkittens, I play a lot of videogames. And beanplate about the narrative audience-participation potential of the medium.
And books! Oh so many books. I suppose a lot of the authors I love are vaguely under the new weird umbrella, but it's a broad and ill-defined umbrella anyway.

I'm panboi who has a very broad interest in film, comics, TV, books, anime, manga, etc.
I'll be chatting about Dr Who as I do love where the relaunch has taken the series. I grew up with classic Who but also the many other great genre series of the time, including the many works of Gerry Anderson and also the likes of Star Trek.
