In case folks care, the "Firewall and Iceberg" podcast (by Alan Sepinwall and Dan Fienberg of Hitfix.com) guys are re-watching Twin Peaks this summer and covering it on their podcast. www.hitfix.com/site/search?q=Firewall+%26+IcebergI remember liking this show back in the day, but I'll admit that on the rewatch I am all, "huh, what did I like about this, other than Dale Cooper is freaky weird cheerful?" Also, I keep thinking it takes place in 1950. Anyone else listening to this?

I hadn't heard of this podcast before, but I'm listening to them now! Thank you for mentioning it, jenfullmoon! Lovely how they list the times of what's covered when, so I could go right to the topic I wanted.
I've seen the series several times, but not too recently. I never saw it when it was first on, but I was shown the whole series (and Fire Walk With Me) by a friend who is a big, big fan. So I took it in in sort of chunks, seeing several episodes a day, several days a week - mini marathons. There are some things about Twin Peaks that don't work right, but that slightly fractured, otherworldly feel, even when actively scary things aren't afoot... I just love that. Maybe akin to your feeling it takes place in 1950 - displaced in time?

At some point I have to sit down and watch it all again as I get all mixed up. Mark Kermode was talking the other day in a discussion about film music on BBC Radio 5 about how David Lynch effectively coached Angelo Badalamenti during the soundtrack to Fire Walk with Me..."ok, now we're in the forest, and there's owls!"...

Haven't watched TP since it's first run all those years ago.
