OK this was the first of the new Torchwoods I really enjoyed. It's probably not an accident that it was Capt. jack heavy episode. It's the first episode where most of what was happening had to do with personal dynamics and not political commentary. Hopefully the show will continue on in this direction for the next three eps. Having said that, I doubt Starz will support another season, which is a shame. I would have rathered the show end on Children of Earth than this.

The show makes absolutely no sense anymore. But that's okay, because during the episode I am totally engaged, it's only afterwards that I think what? Why did Angelo kidnap Gwen's family if all he had to do is call Jack up to get Jack to visit? At what point in his timeline did Jack meet Angelo? Other than the fact that everyone keeps repeating it, why do we think Jack is mortal?

1. We know Jack is mortal because his hand isn't healing. When he's immortal, he heals rapidly. 2. According to the Torchwood wiki and the wikipedia entry about the episode, Jack is somewhere after his time with DW 9 and before 10. If that's true, we already know he'll survive as we see him later on so way to destroy the suspense. (I can't vouch for the wiki as, like wikipedia, anyone can alter it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortal_Sins ) I'm not sure how the viewer is supposed to know that and if they do, it kills the suspense as we know that Jack will go on to meet 10. 3. Yeah, that DOES make no freakin' sense.

1. Again: every single person on the planet is immortal and unable to heal. I grant Jack isn't the immortal that he used to be, with healing and no aging and all, but I don't know why we think he isn't the same immortal as everyone else on the planet. I grant that we will probably find out in the end why he is mortal, but it's a weird assumption for everyone on the show (except the people who understand why everyong is immortal, who presumably have real knowledge) to make. 2. Okay, so, when he meets Angelo, he is between 9 and 10, but he is now after he met 10? Stupid confusing time travel timelines. 3. I know! "Hey, Jack, we thought we'd kidnap people to force you to have a confrontation with Gwen, and then make it clear that we actually had no reason to kidnap those people at all, we just did it to move a different part of the series along."
